Introducing Recipes Of The World: First Stop Indonesia

Recipes Of The World

Chris and I love to travel, and we love to eat, and we love to cook. I’m the first to admit that Chris is head chef and I am sous chef (which sometimes turns into glorified kitchen cleaner), unless we are doing desserts. When we come home we always try to recreate some of our favourite dishes we have had on holidays. So, we thought we would share some of our favourite recipes of the world. Chris does most of the cooking, and I do most of the filming. And once a month we will share a video and a recipe with you from somewhere in the world.

To introduce Recipes Of The World, we are starting with a Beef Rendang from Indonesia. We have tried this in both Bali and Malaysia, and loved it. Most of the recipes are simple creations that we have adapted to our home. But this recipe is from Heinz Von Holzen, the chef behind Bumbu Bali and many cook books on Balinese food. He kindly gave us this recipe to share with you, in celebration of his latest cook book release “”. Watch our attempt at cooking it below…

Recipes Of The World: Beef Rendang From Indonesia

Beef Rendang Recipe

As this is an Indonesian recipe, we are sharing the recipe on Almost Landing: Bali, our travel site all about Bali. Get the Beef Rendang Recipe here. But in the future, all recipes will be shared right here. This recipe’s delicious, but not for the faint hearted. It’s a big time commitment (although not all of it is cooking), but well worth the wait if you want some traditional Indonesian food.

What’s your favourite food from around the world? Any requests for recipes?
